Summit Tutoring is the perfect part-time job for those who love connecting with children and teenagers, are passionate about education, and find true enjoyment in helping others.

Summit Tutoring can fit around your schedule, even if you have a full-time job, are busy with family commitments, or simply enjoy a schedule packed with hobbies.  Tutoring sessions are 90 minutes, occur mostly on weekday evenings or weekends, and can be scheduled directly between you and your students.

This work is challenging, fun, and rewarding.  As a Summit tutor you will help students reach their potential and open doors for them.  You will be making a true difference in the lives of the students and families you work with.

Summit staff will provide you with training, materials, and a constant support system, to ensure you are able to perform at your best.  We are here to help you with tutoring questions as well as any logistic concerns that arise.  We take care of client recruiting and billing and keep you informed of the latest news in the test prep world so that you are free to focus on what you do best:  tutoring.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher from a selective college or university
  • Ability to score at or above the 95th percentile on the SAT and/or ACT
  • Genuine interest in working with students

Reporting to the Director of Tutor and Teacher Services in Massachusetts, the Manager will be primarily responsible for staffing test prep classes at our partner schools in the Massachusetts region.  In addition, the Manager will assist the Director in the recruitment, hiring, training, evaluation, and management of our team of 140+ part-time teachers and tutors.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Staffing all of our classroom programs at partner schools within the Massachusetts region
  • Assisting the Director in with recruitment, interviewing, hiring, training, and management of team of highly-skilled, part-time test prep tutors and teachers
  • Assisting the Director in evaluating teachers and tutors regularly in accordance with performance guidelines; retaining top performers and ensuring that the quality of the tutor and teacher pool is able to accommodate Summit’s growth
  • Building relationships with and supporting tutors and teachers on an as-needed basis by answering questions, troubleshooting challenges, and providing additional resources and training
  • Working closely with the Tutor and Teacher Services; Human Resources;, and Curriculum, Instruction, and Training teams to stay up-to-date on new policies, initiatives and curricular changes, and participate in ongoing collaborative projects

Basic Professional Qualifications         

The desired candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of teaching or management experience, preferably with a background in hiring and training educators
  • Experience in the field of tutoring and test prep a plus
  • BA/BS required
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, as well as sensitivity and tact
  • Demonstrated record of superior performance in a fast-paced, nimble organization and a record of success in developing and managing a successful team of educators
  • Fundamental and creative understanding of today’s job market, and an understanding of how to reach and recruit new tutors who fit the Summit professional profile (highly skilled, highly educated, caring educators)

Reporting to the Director of Administration, the Human Resources Administrator will maintain and enhance the organization’s human resources function by planning, implementing, and evaluating human resources policies, programs, and practices. Administering existing HR programs and initiatives and assisting with the development of new programs and initiatives will be the primary focus of the job.

Specifically, responsibilities will include the following:

  • Programs and Processes: Assist with and manage the planning and delivery of programs to include: performance management process, compensation practices, employee training, health & safety, salary administration, job description updates, ensure all proper documentation is completed and records filed, creation of training manuals and an HR process manual.
  • Recruitment: Support recruiting efforts by assisting Tutor and Teacher Services department.
  • Coordinate Onboarding, including new hire paperwork, and new hire orientation meetings.
  • HRIS Administration: Act as primary point person for the administration of outsourced HRIS system and seek continuous improvement for efficient management of personnel records
  • Benefits Administration: Administer and communicate benefits to employees, serving as liaison between insurance carriers and employees. Maintain related records. Communication with benefit providers and filing claims for LTD, Workers Comp, and Life Insurance claims. Analyze and provide advice to supervisors and managers company-wide on methods and approaches to resolve employee benefit problems and best practices relating to Employee/ Employer Health Benefits.
  • Support Culture: Support a culture that promotes learning, creative thinking, collaboration, growth and excellence across the organization. Respond to the needs of managers and staff across the organization, support communication and teamwork, and increase morale and retention. Act as office on-site events coordinator.
  • Policy Support: Provide day-to-day direction across the organization to ensure HR policies and practices are consistently applied and compliant with all federal and multiple state employment and employee relations statutes and regulatory requirements
  • Employee Relations Support: Work with managers to resolve employee relations issues; consult with outside legal counsel and expert human resource consultants, as necessary.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years applicable experience, familiarity with all HR functions a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree, required
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Suite, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in cross-functional groups
  • Capacity to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interactive skills including verbal, listening and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to think strategically with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to use discretion, and work with highly sensitive and confidential information
  • Experience with employee relation issues
  • SHRM certification is preferred
