Summit Tutoring is the perfect part-time job for those who love connecting with children and teenagers, are passionate about education, and find true enjoyment in helping others.
Summit Tutoring can fit around your schedule, even if you have a full-time job, are busy with family commitments, or simply enjoy a schedule packed with hobbies. Tutoring sessions are 90 minutes, occur mostly on weekday evenings or weekends, and can be scheduled directly between you and your students.

Summit staff will provide you with training, materials, and a constant support system, to ensure you are able to perform at your best. We are here to help you with tutoring questions as well as any logistic concerns that arise. We take care of client recruiting and billing and keep you informed of the latest news in the test prep world so that you are free to focus on what you do best: tutoring.

- Bachelor’s Degree or higher from a selective college or university
- Ability to score at or above the 95th percentile on the SAT and/or ACT
- Genuine interest in working with students
- Means of transportation (i.e. Your own vehicle)
Summit Educational Group is seeking an intelligent and organized Assistant Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Training for our Newton office. The candidate must have outstanding skill with project-based and detail-oriented work and have experience in the tutoring and test prep world. In a smart, fun, and growing company environment, the selected individual will develop trainings and session guides for tutors, staff, and clients. Our clients come to us with high expectations for our knowledge and expertise in the testing industry, and our trainings ensure we exceed those expectations. The individual will also assist with developing Summit’s course materials, analyzing tests, and providing expert information on the testing industry.
Specifically, responsibilities will include the following:
o Develop original trainings for tutors, staff, and clients
o Update existing training materials
o Maintain suite of training materials in a learning management system
o Conduct and attend trainings and train staff to conduct trainings
o Develop session guides to help tutors and clients use course materials
o Develop lesson plans to help teachers with unique classrooms programs
Test Industry Information Monitoring
o Monitor the latest information on the testing industry and materials
o Quickly provide information and advice as an expert resource to tutors, staff, and clients
o Coordinate with staff and tutors on group projects
o Develop and conduct informational sessions to update staff on testing industry developments
o Attend conferences and forums
Course Materials Development and Research Assistance
o Edit and revise Summit course materials
o Analyze and maintain organized data on tests and course materials
o Maintain updates on the status of project progress
o Attend official administrations of tests
o Participate in weekly team meetings
o Assist colleagues throughout the company as necessary
The desired candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Skilled writer and editor
- Very high level of proficiency with all math and verbal skills on the SAT and ACT
- Ability to work as a member of a team and manage multiple responsibilities concurrently in a fast-paced environment
- Sense of urgency and drive for results
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (including Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Adobe InDesign
- Experience with learning management systems (such as Moodle)
- Experience in the test-prep and academic tutoring fields

This role requires a team player who is bright, empathetic, and organized. The Assistant Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Training shares in Summit’s values and identity: ethical, accountable, accessible, expert, and responsive.
Attention to detail and the ability to multi-task are critical to success. The position often involves large, complex projects. The candidate must be able to create a detailed plan for a project, prioritize and adapt through multiple stages of progress, and complete projects within timelines and at the highest standards. The candidate must remain motivated and productive from the initial ideation to the project completion. Some projects require collaboration with teams of tutors or staff, and other projects require independent work and self-motivation.
The position will be permanently located in Newton, MA. Some training will take place in our offices in New Canaan, CT, and White Plains, NY. The hours for this position are Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM. Must have valid driver’s license and access to reliable personal transportation for periodic local day travel to events and activities in the service area of Summit’s home or regional offices.
