While an undergraduate at Yale University, Charlie provided personalized, in-home tutoring services to students in the New Haven area. Seeing a need for one-on-one, in-home tutoring and test preparation, he launched Summit Educational Group in Wellesley, MA in 1988. Charlie has written a number of highly regarded test preparation books, which are used by tutoring companies and schools around the country. He is an expert in the field of tutoring and test preparation and is a frequent speaker and panelist at education conferences, forums, and schools around the country.
Michael received a BA in Film from Emerson College and MA in Library and Information Science from Simmons College. He has held several different management positions during his 10+ years at Summit, and his customer service focus and integrity make him well-suited to his latest role managing Summit’s Massachusetts office. Michael is highly-regarded among school and independent counselors throughout New England and New York as a trusted test prep partner who does all he can on behalf of his clients.
Anthony has been with Summit for over three years, first as a tutor and currently as Regional Director in CT and NY. After nearly 20 years of teaching and helping 25 students at a time, he appreciates the chance to focus his expertise on one student at a time, whether for test preparation or academic support. Anthony holds a degree in English from the University of Notre Dame.
Drew graduated cum laude from Duke University with degrees in Biology and Elementary Education. He then completed his PhD in Immunology from Tufts Medical School. After completing his postdoctoral fellowship, Drew began tutoring for Summit where his passion as an educator quickly made him one of Summit’s most requested tutors. Outside of Summit, Drew is busy with his two girls both under the age of two, his two cats, and talking shop with his wife, Carol, who is also a Summit tutor.
Jenn Prince has been with Summit since 2010. She did her undergraduate work at Hampshire College and Smith College, and went on to get an MBA from Boston University. Prior to joining Summit, she was a Middle- and High-School English Teacher at Dana Hall and Beaver Country Day Schools, and then a Regional Sales Trainer for the Estee Lauder Corporation. Jenn lives in Newton with her husband Mark and their three (very) young daughters.
Brian Murphy has been with Summit for 6 years. He is currently the General Manager of the Course Materials and Services division. He has a BA from the College of the Holy Cross and an MA from the University of Connecticut. He spent 10 years as a public school teacher before joining Summit. He enjoys helping schools run their own test prep programs and helping tutoring companies grow their test prep services.
Adria grew up in Needham, MA and received her BA in Communications from UMass Amherst. Prior to Summit she worked in retail management. Adria lived in the Midwest for many years and recently moved back to the Boston area. She draws on her experience as a mother and from her background in management to communicate with Summit’s families and coworkers. She enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing tennis, and exploring places in New England that she has never visited.
Alex McBride graduated with her BA in English and Sociology from California Lutheran University. She then decided to move across the country to pursue her MA in Publishing and Writing from Emerson College. She worked a plethora of jobs before finding her place in the Summit family. Alex is Summit’s receptionist and occasionally proctors Summit’s weekend practice tests. She enjoys reading, playing video games, and spending time with her dog and cat overlords.
Allison grew up in Framingham, MA and did her undergraduate at UMass Amherst and a Master’s in Counseling Psychology at The Ohio State University. She has around 20 years of experience in Higher Education, as an Academic Advisor, Academic Counselor, and also as a Director of the Tutoring Services at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. Allison has tutored for Summit steadily for the last several years. She currently lives in Hopkinton, MA with her husband, teenage son, and two cats. She loves jigsaw puzzles, cooking, and reading.
Alysha Hearn attended Earlham College where she earned a B.A. in Art, graduated with honors and was a Bonner Community Service Scholar. She later pursued an M.S. in Global Studies and International Relations at Northeastern University where she gained admission to the Sigma Epsilon Rho Honor Society. Alysha has been committed to the field of education management for many years, working with middle school age students through adult learners. Her personal and professional mission is to help people reach their life goals through education.
Anne Ouellette graduated in the top 10% of her class at the United States Naval Academy and later studied Nuclear Engineering through the Navy. She has been a tutor since 2010 and currently works as the Director of Tutor Services for Summit. In her free time, she can often be found working on restoring her 140 year old Victorian home.
Ashley Gilbert is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, where she obtained her BA in Psychology. She then pursued further education at Boston College, where she received her MA in Mental Health Counseling. Prior to being the Classroom Programs Account Manager at Summit, Ashley worked as a social worker in a community mental health center in the Metrowest area of Massachusetts. She frequently uses her coordination and counseling skills from her time as a social worker to help ensure that Summit’s families’ and schools’ needs are met. Ashley is an avid reader, and also enjoys dancing, and running.
Becky Ticotsky grew up in Lexington, Mass., and received a B.A. in Psychology from Wesleyan University and a M.Ed. in School Counseling from Cambridge College. She joined Summit as a tutor in 2012. As a program director in our Newton office, Becky enjoys helping parents put together effective test-prep programs. True to the Summit name, Becky also conquers high peaks, such as Mt. Rainier and Mt. Whitney.
Brook has an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in Mathematics from Williams College, where he graduated with honors. He has been with Summit for over 7 years; prior to that, held senior management positions in financial services and consulted in various field, including higher education.
Catherine was a National Merit Finalist and Scholar. She earned her BBA from the University of Texas at Austin and later studied to become a teacher. She spent time teaching high school geometry and algebra in both Texas and Massachusetts, before moving on to private tutoring with Summit in 2003. She currently runs the finance and HR departments for Summit while still finding the time for family, cooking, and reading.
Genny earned her B.A. from Kenyon College and M.A. from the University of Connecticut. She has taught a wide range of subjects, including composition, German, music performance, and English as a second language, to students age 10 to adult. A Summit tutor before assuming her current role, she is passionate about supporting a first-rate tutoring staff. Genny is also an accomplished scholar of medieval literature whose hobbies include hiking and playing trombone.
Jack Carbonell is a graduate of Colgate University, where he earned a B.A. in English and Film & Media Studies. Jack grew up in Norwalk and attended St. Luke’s School in New Canaan. Prior to working at Summit, Jack worked as a freelancer in the film industry. He collaborated on a variety of independent film productions, and worked as a photographer and video editor. As a Program Director, Jack enjoys connecting with parents and helping them design a smart and practical testing plan for their child. On the weekends, Jack likes to spend his time hiking, skiing, and occasionally binge-watching Netflix.
James is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where he double majored in Music and Political Science. While there, he worked as a volunteer tutor in math and reading for Berkeley Unified School District. Including his time at Summit, James has eight years of experience in the tutoring and test prep industry. In his role as the Director of 1-1 Tutoring, James enjoys working closely with families to customize tutoring programs to suit each student’s specific needs and goals.
Jessica is a graduate of the University of Tampa, where she obtained a BA in Communications. She worked in the Advertising industry for four years prior to joining the Summit team. In her free time, she enjoys traveling the world, boating on Long Island Sound, spending time with her family and black lab, Roxy.
John grew up in Easton, Connecticut and attended Fairfield Prep for high school. John is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where he obtained his BA in Political Science. John continued his education at Duke University, where he earned his Master’s in Management Studies. Before Summit, John interned in marketing at Johnson & Johnson’s consumer products division. When he’s not tutoring or working at Summit, John enjoys reading, watching college football and challenging his friends to board games.
In his role as Director of Curriculum, Joshua oversees the development, implementation, and oversight of Summit’s curriculum, instruction, and training. Prior to his role, Joshua spent 3 years as a Summit tutor and classroom teacher, preparing students for the SAT, ACT, SSAT, ISEE, and essay-writing. With over 10 years of tutoring experience, Joshua has taught students from kindergarteners to senior citizens in everything from cooking to computers.
Katie is a graduate of Boston College with a BA in English and Journalism. While at Boston College, Katie wrote for the school newspaper and tutored at Frederick Pilot Middle School in Boston, MA. At Summit, Katie helps to run email campaigns, social media programs, and various other marketing programs. Prior to Summit, Katie worked at Oracle in their Sales and Business Development program. In her free time, Katie’s passions include writing, yoga, and spending time with family and friends.
Kerry joined Summit in 2011 as a tutor for the SAT, ACT, SSAT, and ISEE. She graduated magna cum laude from Boston University with degrees in communication and political science. She received a J.D. from Boston College Law School and has held various positions in the legal and contracting fields. Her hobbies include reading history and helping others figure things out. Kerry is passionate about tutoring and helping people articulate their thoughts.
Kristine received a BA in English from Middlebury College. With over 15 years of marketing experience, Kristine is excited to be part of the continued growth at Summit. She is a believer in the educational benefits of travel as she has spent much of her time seeing the world and studying abroad. In her free time, Kristine volunteers with Horizons for Homeless Children, a charity helping to improve the lives of homeless children in Massachusetts.
Laura is originally from Bolton, Massachusetts. She attended Applewild School in Fitchburg and Middlesex School in Concord. She earned her bachelor’s in Mathematics and secondary concentrations in Economics and French from Bates College. She has tutored the SAT, ACT, SSAT, ISEE, and additional math subjects since 2010, and joined Summit as a Program Director in 2015. Outside of her work for Summit, she enjoys working with the Boston rowing community as a volunteer and coach.
Lauren graduated cum laude from Salve Regina University with a major in Global Business & Economics, and a minor in Business Administration. Prior to Summit, Lauren worked in retail, where she built strong personal and professional relationships by offering impeccable customer service and support. Outside of work, Lauren enjoys spending time on her boat, cheering on the New York Rangers, and running after her labs, Bowie and Hank.
Lisa joined Summit in 2008 as an SAT, SSAT and ISEE tutor. In her current role as Program Director, Lisa enjoys building relationships with families and drawing on her experiences as both a tutor and as a parent, to design and personalize Summit’s programs for each individual student. Lisa graduated from University of Massachusetts in Amherst with dual degree in Sociology and Journalism and a minor in Psychology.
Marvin Wolfert has been a Summit tutor since 2004, and has served as a Summit Program Director since 2012. Marvin graduated magna cum laude from Boston University with a degree in English Literature, and also holds a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. Marvin’s professional background includes 15 years in estate and business planning law and 7 years in retail management. Within the past decade, Marvin has run over a dozen marathons, including Boston.
Since graduating cum laude with degrees in English and Secondary Education, Michael has had nearly a decade of experience in the field of test prep. As Marketing Manager of Summit, he helps build relationships with schools and tutoring companies all across the country. Outside of work, he enjoys collecting records and exploring new cities.
Morgan is originally from Greenwich, Connecticut and attended Greens Farms Academy in Westport. She is a graduate of Pitzer College where she majored in English and World Literature with a concentration in Creative Writing. She has worked in various capacities of the education field, most recently as a 5th grade teacher and then a college guidance counselor prior to joining Summit in 2015. Outside of work, Morgan enjoys traveling, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with family.
Rob Fisher is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, where he obtained his BA in Psychology. He then pursued further education at Boston College, where he received his MA in Mental Health Counseling. Prior to being a Program Director at Summit, Rob worked as a social worker in housing development. He utilizes these counseling skills in his tutoring and a variety of other educational backgrounds. Rob is an avid golfer, and also enjoys tennis and running.
Ryan Purcell has contributed to numerous occupations in the field of education, from teaching English to mental health counseling. At Worcester State University, Ryan graduated with honors with a BA in History. He is currently working on two graduate programs; one through the University of Michigan for social work and the other at Thunderbird School of Global Management for a degree in International business. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys working in various mediums of art and attaining professional certificates in a variety of disciplines, from International Human Rights Law at Duke to American Law at the University of Pennsylvania.
Stephanie Davis is a graduate of Worcester State University where she received a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Global studies. She is passionate about all sorts of information management and gathering (even the boring stuff) and believes wholeheartedly in efficiency in data entry and processes. She joined Summit after working in a variety of Data entry positions including the Harvard Kennedy application office. She is currently applying for her MBA & MS in information sciences. In her free time she loves traveling to see Van Gogh’s paintings, spending time with her lovely fiancé, and cooking breakfast foods.
Vicki began as a Summit tutor while earning her Master’s in Elementary Education at Boston College. After graduating, she moved into her full-time role as a Classroom Programs Coordinator, where she is part of a team that organizes and implements testing and tutoring through schools and community centers. She also writes and edits for the Curriculum, Instruction, and Training division, where she enjoys the challenges of creating resources for diverse groups of learners.
Whitney graduated cum laude from Connecticut College where she was a selected scholar for the Holleran Center for Community Action and Public Policy. Her professional background has focused on client relations in both the retail and entertainment fields. She started as a tutor with Summit before joining the team full-time as a Program Director. Whitney enjoys collaborating with our school and counselor partners as the Director of Educational Partnerships. Outside of work, she freelances in the film and entertainment fields and enjoys planning elaborate theme parties.
