Meet some of our expert tutors:

  • Susan Dane
    Susan Dane

    Susan has been tutoring for Summit since 2010 in all areas of the SAT, ACT, and SSAT.
    She completed undergraduate studies at UMass Amherst, and is now pursuing a graduate degree in Art Education. She enjoys sewing, quilting, and a variety of other creative pursuits.

    • Stephen Henkel
      Stephen Henkel

      Stephen, who earned his B.A. in English from East Carolina University, taught English in Saudi Arabia before returning to the U.S. and working with Summit. His goofy sense of humor belies a thorough background in effective teaching methodologies. Stephen’s tutoring style is lively, interactive, and student-centered. He has taught Summit ACT prep classes at St. Luke’s School, and also teaches science and anatomy at Level Up Village. Stephen is a dad whose hobbies include hiking, volunteering, and mixed martial arts.

      • Sofia Berinstein
        Sofia Berinstein

        Sofia Berinstein holds a BFA from The Cooper Union and a MS in Art, Culture, and Technology from MIT, where she studied the intersection of visual perception, photography, and the philosophy of mind. Sofia began tutoring for Summit in 2012 before joining the company as a program director, but has recently returned to her academic pursuits, as she continues to tutor. When she is not tromping around Japan or the Mongolian Steppe with her large format camera, Sofia likes to bake pies and play fetch with her cat.

        • Samir Youssef
          Samir Youssef

          Samir earned his B.S. and M.S. in Optical Sciences & Engineering from the University of Arizona. A Senior Design Engineer at ASML, he has tutored SAT/ACT Math as well as Physics and other academic subjects with Summit since 2014. Samir is respectful, confident, and detail-oriented. He is a supportive and patient tutor who provides guidance as needed to build students’ confidence in their own potential.

          • Roni Weiss
            Roni Weiss

            Roni graduated from the University of Washington with dual degrees in English and Drama at the age of 18. A Summit tutor since 2013, he has taught test prep classes at Rye Country Day, Rippowam Cisqua, and New Canaan Country School. With his personable and flexible teaching style, he has helped students in NY and CT achieve their potential on a variety of tests. Outside of his work with Summit, Roni is a social media/marketing consultant and event producer in the travel industry and runs Travel Unity, a nonprofit focused on increasing diversity in the travel space. He has traveled to over 70 countries, including every country in Europe.

            • Neal Dach
              Neal Dach

              Neal Dach attended California State University in San Bernardino where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science, and is now a fifth year Ph.D. Student in Neuroscience at Harvard University. Neal tutors math and science on the ACT, SAT, ISEE, SSAT, and subject tests. When not tutoring, he trains and performs as a pop vocalist.

              • Natalie Harrington
                Natalie Harrington

                Natalie Harrington received her BA in Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences from Wellesley College. She loves to keep busy: she currently works as a Manager at Johnson String
                Instrument in addition to her part-time role as a One-on-One tutor at Summit. In her spare time Natalie enjoys writing, riding her motorcycle, and traveling to car shows around the country.

                • Michaela Copenhaver
                  Michaela Copenhaver

                  Michaela is a graduate of Princeton University with a B.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering. She began tutoring with Summit in 2014. Charming and expert, she takes an engineer’s approach to tutoring, creating systems for solving problems. Outside of Summit, she is a full-time competitive rower and holds a world record for indoor rowing as well as several national titles. Her hobbies include running, baking, and reading.

                  • Linda Libert
                    Linda Libert

                    Linda Libert has been a cross-trained Summit tutor since 2006. With degrees in teaching and communication she also does classroom programs and conducts corporate training. Additionally, Linda teaches public speaking courses for a non-profit organization, and
                    she patrols as “the grammar police“ doing freelance proofreading/editing. When not working, Linda enjoys outdoor sports & travel with her husband, photography, art, choir and frequent servings of gourmet dark chocolate.

                    • Irene Eide
                      Irene Eide

                      Irene earned her B.A. at Middlebury College, where she studied Political Science, Classics, and Italian. Since 2004, she has taught and tutored a wide range of subjects, including Italian, Biology, and Philosophy. Irene joined Summit in 2011 and employs a calm, straightforward, and adaptable teaching style. She has high expectations of her students, but is also sympathetic because they can be so busy. She is a mother who enjoys outdoor activities (sailing, rowing, etc.), cooking, and classical music.

                      • Erin Sinclair
                        Erin Sinclair

                        Erin Sinclair graduated from Cornell University in 2007 with her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She later earned her Master of Education in School Counseling from Boston University. Currently, Erin is a high school guidance counselor and also tutors students for the ISEE, SSAT, and SAT. Erin enjoys running; she has completed 7 half marathons to date and looks forward to her next one this October.

                        • Dan Simonich
                          Dan Simonich

                          Dan is a graduate of Columbia University, where he earned his M.A. in the Teaching of English. He currently teaches ELA and Civics at Path Academy in Windham, CT, and has worked with Summit since 2014. As well as being a favorite among Hartford area families who have worked with him 1-on-1, Dan has taught Summit classroom programs at Loomis Chaffee, Ethel Walker, and the Watkinson School. Dan’s personality is happy, encouraging, and eager. Extremely well-versed in the methodology of teaching, he nevertheless keeps the learning environment light and fun. Dan is a guitar player who loves to cook and bake.

                          • Carol Margolis
                            Carol Margolis

                            Carol Margolis received a BA in English and American Literature from Harvard University, and an MAT in Secondary English Education from Washington University. She teaches English at Dedham High School, and has tutored for the SAT, ACT, SSAT, ISEE, and subject tests for Summit. In her free time, Carol enjoys traveling and going to the theater.

                            • Benjamin Park
                              Benjamin Park

                              Ben Park graduated from MIT with dual degrees in physics and music. Since then he has focused on music composition and is currently working on his doctorate at the New England Conservatory. In addition to writing music and tutoring and teaching for Summit, Ben also enjoys hiking and baking (though usually not at the same time).

                              • Ben Chesneau
                                Ben Chesneau

                                Ben Chesneau is a recent graduate of American University in Washington, DC. In college he taught students as both a camp counselor and teaching assistant. Ben balances his time tutoring for the SAT with a career in media production, and can be found playing his guitar in Central Park on the weekends.

                                • Alex Whittlesey
                                  Alex Whittlesey

                                  Alex graduated from McGill University with a B.Com. in Finance, and later earned an M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut. A Business Analyst at HomeServe USA, he began working for Summit for 2012 because he found it rewarding to help students succeed in achieving their college admissions goals. Fun, easy to relate to, and methodical, he likes to break concepts down for students so that they can get to the root of each question. Alex is a dad and is proficient in Portuguese.
