ONE-ON-ONE MATH COURSES FOR GRADES 4 – 10
One-on-one Peak Math courses include Grade 4 Math, Grade 5 Math, Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, and Geometry. The optimal program for your student will be chosen based on the results of a math assessment and input from you, with counsel from your dedicated program director. We use the well-respected Art of Problem Solving curriculum
Programs are held in 8, 12, or 16-week sessions and each weekly session is 60 to 90 minutes. We begin with a math assessment, which will help determine which Peak Math program is best for your student. With Peak Math programs there is typically 1 to 1.5 hours of homework per session. The tutoring conveniently takes place either online or in your home, and on your schedule.
Confidence in math and other subjects comes from a sense of genuine understanding. The skills and strengths developed in these courses lead to eager engagement with math, and the development of transferable skills such as perseverance, confidence, and creative problem-solving.
ONE-ON-ONE ANALYTICAL WRITING COURSE FOR GRADES 8 – 10
Our one-on-one Peak Writing course teaches students to master analytical writing, the most important, most challenging, and most frequent type of writing that students encounter in high school and college. Working one-on-one with an expert writing teacher is the ideal environment for mastering writing.
In this engaging program, students learn to structure their essays, deepen their analysis, develop their arguments, and create quality supportive examples that showcase their true writing skills. In addition, students learn how to read more deeply and critically. This level of preparation and skills development helps students prepare for honors, advanced placement (AP), and other higher-level English classes as well as other subjects requiring strong written communication. Students receive copies of the Norton Anthology of Short Fiction and Summit’s Analytical Writing Guide. All materials are included in the cost of the program.
The Peak Analytical Writing program typically consists of either 8 or 16 weekly one-on-one sessions with your tutor. Sessions are 90 minutes in length, and there is 1 to 1.5 hours of homework per session. Your program begins with an initial writing sample from your student to give the tutor a sense of strengths and areas for focused improvement. The tutoring conveniently takes place either online or in your home, and on your schedule. A dedicated program director will work with you to structure the optimal program for you.
