It’s here! Summit has added a new coursebook to our suite of SAT materials: The SAT Big Book of Questions. This new book has 10 tests’ worth of SAT-type questions, making it a huge addition of content for our SAT tutoring programs. It represents a wonderful collaboration between our veteran tutors and expert in-house curriculum team, and it will be a supplement to our core curriculum in service of even more customized, effective tutoring programs.
GIVING OUR STUDENTS THE EDGE
Sometimes it is difficult to ensure a student has mastered a skill when it is tested so infrequently on practice SATs. We know that improving skills in targeted areas is key to raising scores. The SAT Big Book of Questions will let us fine-tune our assessment of student abilities, enhance the customization of our programs, and help give our students an edge in this high-stakes world of standardized testing.
OUR COMMITMENT TO HIGH QUALITY CONTENT
There are other prep books that feature large collections of practice questions. These books primarily contain generic questions related to SAT topics rather than test-like questions. For example, these books may contain dozens of questions about quadratic equations, but these questions don’t necessarily resemble the types of questions that would actually appear on the test. Summit’s own Foundations books feature such content because it can be useful for teaching basic concepts, however we don’t position it as full-fledged SAT prep.
The SAT Big Book of Questions is unique in that every question resembles the content seen on actual tests. With such a large collection of test-like content, we can develop familiarity and confidence for students who get intimidated by the SAT and raise the scores of strong students who are only held back by careless mistakes or a few tricky concepts. It will be the main supplement to our core course materials and the official practice tests. This big addition of SAT content will make our programs more customized, flexible, and effective. (And, yes, we are planning to publish The ACT Big Book of Questions too.)
